City Plaza Athens
The City Plaza is located at the Victoria Square in the very heart of Athens. The original hotel was closed for more than six years as a result of the so-called economic crisis and the EU-imposed austerity regime. When, in April 2016, more than 50.000 refugees got stuck in Greece due to the closure of the Balkan Route, local activists and refugees occupied the premises. Since then, more than 1.700 new guests from all over the world have found a temporary home in the City Plaza Athens that they transformed into a self-organised refugee accommodation and solidarity space.
