What challenges did this initiative look to address?


At the beginning activities were close to the Right to the City movement. The collective was mostly involved in struggles concerning occupations of spaces for cultural production. But from the start it was clear that these struggles are connected with the fights for other public goods or public goods in general, such as the right to water or the fight against commercialisation of public space. Artists need new spaces for production, for working and exhibiting, but more than that we all need spaces of freedom, solidarity and joint work.


What has changed?


Educational and training activities of the Ministry include constant monitoring of international trends in this area: translation and distribution of books. Organisation of educational workshops, lectures and trainings.


How did it happen?


Through a series of actions in public spaces they are trying to draw attention to the problems in our cities - and to offer viable and creative solutions to these problems. Some of their actions are on the verge of legality, others are a product of prolonged bureaucratic and technological struggles. The Ministry develops projects in co-operation with a network of researchers, activists, groups and individuals involved in various fields such as architecture, urbanism, sociology, art, political sciences...
