Urban Alternatives is launched by a collaboration of different actors which are united in their efforts to create a more democratic, just and sustainable world. This map seeks to highlight initiatives that work towards this goal. Proposal for initiatives not listed yet can be made directly on the website. This process is open to new collaborations.



Socio-Ecological Transformation

The self-organized Prinzessinnengarten (Princess Garden) in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg has been a space for urban gardening for almost 10 years. In cooperation with the Nachbarschaftsakademie (Neighbourhood Academy), founded in 2015, they offer a platform for knowledge sharing, cultural practice, community work, political education and activism. Through academic projects, workshops, diverse cultural formats and other activities they tackle a broad range of issues related to socio-ecological transformation.
